North Miami, FL (January 20, 2023) – In the midst of a high school auditorium filled with eager onlookers from near and far, the City of North Miami inducted its newest Mayor and Councilman for District 4. Mayor Alix Desulme, Ed.D., took center stage on January 17, 2023, as he addressed a sea of supporters enthusiastically cheering for him and cheering for the beginning of a new reign in the City of North Miami. Mayor Desulme committed to a 100-day plan during his inauguration speech. Dubbed the People’s Mayor, his plan focused on creating a customer-centered administration and tackling issues as affordable housing, transportation, infrastructure, and sustainability. He mentioned about attracting more resources to the city and supporting the growth of the bustling small business community that permeates the city’s local economy. He even committed to expanding the scope of the city’s new Citizens Investigative Board (CIB) to include not just complaints and commendations for the police department but to include all departments in the City of North Miami. “This is a bold and challenging agenda,” Mayor Desulme stated during his speech. “Yet the administration is ready to take on the challenge.” With similarly aligning aspirations, North Miami Councilman Pierre Frantz Charles who was also sworn in during the ceremony noted in his address that he too will jointly focus on housing, economic development, and connecting with the community. “I will commit to building consensus and inspiring residents to make substantive change in the community.” Councilman Charles stated in his remarks. “I will listen to the will and interests of our residents and respect the diversity of viewpoints, genders, ethnicities, systems of belief, and ways of being that define this beautiful city.” For more information about the induction ceremony or to schedule an interview with Mayor Desulme and/or Councilman Charles, contact communications@northmiamifl.gov.
